Umewaka Yasuyuki (梅若恭行)

Yasuyuki UMEWAKA (October 6, 1917 - January 20, 2003) was a Noh actor of the Kanze school of shite-kata (lead actors).

He was the third son of Rokuro UMEWAKA the 54th. He was apprenticed to his father and older brother, Rokuro UMEWAKA the 55th. He made his debut with "Shojo" (The Tippling Elf) in 1921; he played his first starring role in "Tadanobu" in 1926.

He won the Award of the Japan Art Academy in 1988. He became a member of the Japan Art Academy in 1992. He was designated as the general holder of Important Intangible Cultural Property. He distinguished himself as the eldest member and the leading figure of the Noh performance world.

Yasunori UMEWAKA is his eldest son.
